Our History

Asset Allocation & Management Company, LLC (AAM) is a registered investment advisor founded in 1982 to serve insurance companies. We bring expertise in insurance asset management and deep knowledge of the regulatory and competitive landscape, helping insurers meet their investment goals across asset classes.

Our Ownership

AAM Insurance Investment Management is privately owned by 27 AAM Member employees and Securian Financial, a mutual insurance holding company headquartered in St. Paul, MN. Securian, rated A+ by A.M. Best, brings strength and stability, with over $70 billion in AUM and over $1 trillion of life insurance in force.

Our team’s insurance asset management experience is our core strength. AAM’s senior management averages 20 years of investment industry experience, and our portfolio management team averages 19 years of investment industry experience.*

Client Relationship Summary

Beginning June 30, 2020, investment advisers (and broker-dealers) are required to provide retail investors with a disclosure form known as Form CRS. Form CRS is intended to be a simple, easy-to-read client relationship summary and discloses:

  • The types of client relationships and services the firm offers
  • The fees, costs, conflicts of interest and standard of conduct associated with those relationships and services
  • Whether the firm and its financial professionals currently have reportable legal or disciplinary history
  • How to obtain additional information about the firm

Giving Back

AAM encourages community involvement by providing employees with paid time off to volunteer either with the organizations listed or with philanthropic organizations of their own choosing. Volunteerism by AAM employees is encouraged and occurs throughout the year with periodic special drives to help fulfill the specific needs of our philanthropic partners.

United Way of Metro Chicago brings together businesses, government, nonprofits, and agency and community leaders to deliver funding, resources, and expertise to nonprofit organizations across greater Chicago. 

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago is the largest in a nationwide network of faith-based social service providers that form Catholic Charities. Together they form the largest private network of social service providers in the United States. More than 1,400 agencies, institutions, and organizations make up the Catholic Charities network, which provides services to nearly 10 million people in need each year regardless of religious, social, or economic backgrounds. The network also seeks to advocate for issues of importance to those in need. 

One of Chicago’s largest and longest-operating food pantries, Nourishing Hope’s mission is to eliminate hunger and poverty in our community by providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people; empowering clients to gain independence through innovative social service programs; and raising awareness of hunger and poverty and working towards solutions to eliminate them.

Open Books is a nonprofit that provides literacy experiences for tens of thousands of readers each year through inspiring programs and the sale of new and used donated books.  Through the organization’s Literacy Programs, students’ reading and writing skills are transformed through experienced educators who deliver innovative instruction, passionate volunteers who serve as positive role models and provide enthusiastic support, safe learning environments for practice, exploration, and social-emotional growth, and access to high-quality books and tailored curricula.  Through Book Grants, readers of all ages are provided with engaging, appropriate, and high-quality books and each week, thousands of books are delivered to schools and nonprofits across Chicagoland.

Serving approximately 1500 young men and producing 300 college-bound graduates each year, The Urban Prep Schools Program includes three public charter schools in the Bronzeville, Englewood, and Near West Side communities within the city of Chicago. Urban Prep’s schools are unique because of their positive school culture and rigorous college prep curriculum. Alumni have set the bar high for graduates to come, as 100% of them have been admitted to college including prestigious institutions like Cornell University, Penn, Georgetown, Howard, Morehouse College, Northwestern University, The University of Illinois, The University of Rochester, and The University of Virginia.

PAWS Chicago is the Chicago chapter of a national model in animal sheltering, committed to bringing an end to the killing of homeless cats and dogs.
